THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF A PAST VACANCY EMMAUS HAVE APPOINTED TO.
Deputy Headteacher - Behaviour, Inclusion and Ethos
Location: City of Bristol
Contract Type: Full Time
Contract Term: Permanent
Start Date: September 2024 or sooner by negotiation
St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School (SMRT) is a successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational, Church of England, comprehensive school of over 1750 students, serving families from the whole of greater Bristol and beyond. We are located at the heart of the city and have a diverse student community with considerable parental support. Our diversity is a strength and something we celebrate. The Redcliffe Sixth Form Centre currently houses approximately 700 students from our own school and from many other schools across the City.
SMRT was judged outstanding by Ofsted (April 2015) and in our church school (SIAMS) inspection (March 2017). The appointment of a new Headteacher in September 2002 has meant there is absolutely no sense of complacency. SMRT is a forward-looking school with a relentless focus on providing the absolute best provision so that no child is left behind.
We are now seeking to recruit an exceptional Deputy who has a genuine vision for what exceptional educational provision looks like and has the experience, character, and energy to help us take SMRT to the next level.
The post holder will:
• Ensure consistent student behaviour that fits with our Christian ethos and vision and enables every student to be empowered as a fully ‘Alive’ learner, leader, and responsible community member.
• Have the daily responsibility for the oversight of the 11-16 site.
• Provide and model highly effective leadership.
• Be a genuine team player who brings the experience, intelligence, and self-awareness to fulfil the wider leadership requirements and support of a Deputy Headteacher.
For an existing Deputy (or perhaps Headteacher) this might be the next challenge you seek…or for an experienced Assistant Head with still yet untapped potential – at SMRT we have the capacity, resources and above all the desire to develop and support you to become the outstanding leader you know you can be.
Although the focus of this role is Behaviour, Inclusion, and Ethos, interest from candidates who have not come up through the traditional Head of Year route are welcome. The job description is open to amendment and development in the light of the unique skill set of the successful candidate.
Applications are sought from both practising Christians and those committed to supporting the Christian ethos of the school.
Closing: Tues 30 January at 12 Noon
Interviews: Tues 6 and Wed 7 February
