Emmaus Leadership have been retained to manage the key appointment of a Director of Education for the Salisbury Diocesan Board of Education (SDBE).
SDBE has oversight of 193 Church Schools (including 5 middle and 10 secondary schools) educating more than 42000 children and young people across 5 Local Authorities. 107 of these diocesan schools have already converted to academy status, 24 of which have joined The Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust (DSAT). The SDBE enjoys working in very close partnership with 20 mixed MATs - many of which contain both Church and community schools.
The SDBE enjoys a sphere of influence that extends far beyond the reach of CofE schools, as it strives to be bold and forward-thinking in embracing the opportunities afforded by the fast-changing educational landscape; recognising the missional opportunity to work across the educational system for the common good, building deep working and strategic partnerships at a local, regional and national level.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic, systems-leader to lead a well-resourced, highly experienced and committed team as we seek to support schools, academies and the wider Church in its mission to enable the delivery of educational excellence, framed within our distinctive and deeply Christian vision.
We are looking for someone with a:
- Proven track record of working successfully in a senior educational context (for example, as a Headteacher or equivalent, DDE or senior local authority colleague) securing improvement and change
- Passion for leading the DBE’s mission to uphold, cherish and develop the deeply Christian character of church schools and academies
- Commitment to working collaboratively in order to build a vibrant school and parish partnership which impacts positively on the spiritual development of children and young people
- Proven understanding of leading highly accountable teams which enable change, improvement and development
