Chief Executive Officer - Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust
Salary: £Competitive to attract the right applicant Location: Blackpool, Lancashire Contract Type: Full Time (Part Time a possibility) Contract Term: Permanent Start Date: Negotiable
Emmaus Leadership will shortly be commencing the recruitment of a new CEO for Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust (BEBCMAT) following the imminent retirement of the current CEO in December 2019.
These are exciting times in Catholic education within the Diocese of Lancaster. The newly appointed Bishop of Lancaster has recently written to all schools within the Diocese encouraging them to engage in conversations around Academy status. As the only Catholic MAT within the Diocese, and with an excellent reputation for pupil welfare and academic outcomes - and all this despite serving an area which experiences deprivation and many of the challenges facing small coastal towns - we anticipate a bright future as we pursue opportunities to grow our CMAT in close partnership with the Diocese of Lancaster's Education Service.
You will be a practising Catholic with Headship and/or demonstrable system leadership/school improvement experience across more than one school (Primary and/or Secondary) and an excellent understanding of the school sector as well as a strong grasp of current educational issues including the CMAT's evolving role within the parish, Diocese and local community.
Whilst this is ideally a Full Time appointment, a Part Time contract will be considered for a strong candidate with the requisite skills and experience.
Closing: Mon 21 October at 9am

"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school that is seeking to appoint a Christian Headteacher. In particular, Emmaus’ ability to promote the school, assess the ethos of the school and communicate this within the networks of those who might be considered as possible candidates was invaluable."
Clive Purser, Chair of Governors, St Andrew's CE High School for Boys, Worthing
"Emmaus were instrumental in persuading me to apply for the post of Headteacher. I had seen the school advertising in the past but nothing inspired me to get in touch. Once Emmaus advertised I felt intrigued and keen to learn more about the school. I was supported throughout the whole process, which was a very personal and positive experience. I would highly recommend Emmaus to any school thinking of recruiting, and candidates considering registering. If my new school had not used Emmaus I probably wouldn’t have applied."
Hannah Walters, Headteacher, Platt CE Primary School - Kent
"We considered TES, but the critical factor for us was that Emmaus are not only specialists in recruiting Headteachers, they are Christians focused exclusively on recruiting for Church Schools."
Canon Bob Baker, Chair of Governors,The Bishop’s CE School - Thetford
"…we also considered other external recruiters, but Emmaus were clear favourites in terms of their recruitment expertise and in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the catholic school’s sector."
Peter Giorgio, Director of Education, Nottingham Diocese
"We came across Emmaus by accident after our own attempts to recruit a Headteacher failed. We would not hesitate to engage them again to find a suitable candidate for a leadership position."
Michael Tennant - Chairman of the Board, St Edward's School
"Could we afford it? My belief, as Chair was that we couldn’t afford not to. We needed strong school leaders to be drawn to apply. Our success was down to using Emmaus and definitely money well spent."
Carry Lynott - Chair of Governors, Our Lady and St Brendan's Catholic Primary School, Bradford
"I have no hesitation in commending Emmaus to any school which is seeking to appoint a Christian Head. My only regret is that we did not go to them for the first round of interviews that proved unsuccessful. It is an expensive option, but in the long run they are more than value for money. I am very thankful to God for the ministry of Emmaus, and I warmly commend them to you. In OFSTED terms, they are outstanding."
The Rt Rev Keith Sinclair - Anglican Bishop of Birkenhead
"We are delighted with the appointment we made and I have reported to the whole community that we could not have been more thorough in the search or more rigorous in the selection process. Thank you Emmaus Leadership."
Jacqui Feely, Chair at All Hallows Catholic College, Macclesfield
"We had been cold called by a few other companies but chose Emmaus as it specialised in Church schools. We were impressed by Liam and his team coming to the school and burrowing in to what the school wanted and needed. He asked searching questions and we were satisfied this was the way forward. I had not been a fan of head hunters before, but I have to say this process and its result was a hugely better experience than going out on our own and was totally professional throughout."
Bridget Prentice, Chair of Governors - Trinity School, Lewisham
"I cannot imagine a better service to fulfil the requirement of helping a Catholic school find a Head. I was impressed with the number and high quality of candidates sourced by Emmaus Leadership."
Marjorie Bannister, Chair - St Michael's Catholic College, London
